Our work

icould

icould.com is a free, independent online resource which offers people of all ages ideas, direction, inspiration and hope for their futures. In this time of economic uncertainty, icould.com is a portal and support network for people who have the desire to change their futures. It will continue to grow and develop, with a current showcase of a thousand individual filmed stories from real people in real jobs from all employment sectors.

"Young people need direction and lots of help when choosing a career and icould.com definitely provides this. I was very lucky and I found a mentor - a researcher, who went on to be a big cheese at ITV no less - to guide me, but not everyone is as lucky. icould.com is a fantastic resource for all people, especially kids to provide them with inspiration for their future career."

Davina McCall, TV presenter

Celebrities (such as TV presenter, Davina McCall and Fun Loving Criminals musician, Huey Morgan), senior business people (WPP CEO, Sir Martin Sorrell and Sir Richard Branson) and professional sports athletes (such as Olympic sprinter, Jeanette Kwayke) have all taken part and films of their career stories are available at icould.com

"I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to do in the future and am not sure where or who I can go to for guidance. There's so much competition to find work, I find the whole prospect of finding a job terrifying. icould.com sounds like a great idea - I love the fact that all you have to do is log on to get direct access to real people's experiences in the workplace."

Samuel Lucas, aged 16, from Coventry

icould.com is managed by CRAC: The Career Development Organisation and has been funded through its initial development phase by an educational philanthropist who believes that people are our greatest national asset and harnessing their potential will not only help individuals but the UK and future generations as a whole.

Decisions at 18

CRAC actively supports the professional development of careers practitioners working with all kinds of client groups. Decisions at 18 is CRAC's flagship conference for those who advise and work with young people, disseminating valuable information on the broad field of school and college leaver career options.

The event runs over three days and is unrivalled in its breadth of content, with over 60 topics covered across the workshop and seminar programme. Alongside the topical, practical and subject-focused one hour workshops the CRAC conference creates a welcoming environment for exchanging good practice, and encourages dialogue between careers practitioners, teachers, higher education admissions officers and employers.

In 2010, CRAC will be taking the conference to Royal Holloway, University of London on 20-22 April. The conference theme is flexibility for careers of the future. Young people who will be taking their next career step in 2010 face economic uncertainty and a tumultuous employment market. Yet new and emerging job roles as well as the economic imperative mean there remains a compelling need for them to develop high level skills - through higher education, employment or training.

Decisions at 18 provides a forum for discussion and information exchange on how best to support young people to give them the best possible chance of success in a changing world.

For more information visit Decisions at 18 2010.
