&lt;p&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Having worked in research funding, strategy and policy for 20 years, Shewly is passionate about research careers and research culture and the critical role of evidence-based policy making and interventions. He has held senior leadership roles at both European and national levels and has contributed to shaping research and education policies, particularly in the area of doctoral training.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;From 2017 to 2023, he served as Head of the Council for Doctoral Education at the European University Association (EUA-CDE). In this role, he was responsible for EUA&amp;rsquo;s work on research ethics and integrity. Until June 2025, he served as Head of International Funding Policy at the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). In this capacity, he led the development of SNSF&amp;rsquo;s international cooperation strategy and was responsible for initiating and managing partnerships with international stakeholders and for coordinating the Foundation&amp;rsquo;s Europe dossier.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Dr. Hasgall holds a doctorate in Contemporary History from the University of Zurich. His research focused on memory politics and transitional justice in Argentina, and he has long-standing ties to Latin America, having worked as a human rights observer in Guatemala from 1995 to 1997.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;He also serves on several international advisory boards, including the Scientific Council of the TU Munich Graduate School, and previously contributed to various EU-funded projects in advisory roles. He served as Head of Chemistry and as a Pro-Vice-Chancellor. In the latter role he created the Postdoctoral Academy and was involved in the design and building of Eddington, a new Cambridge district for university staff, students and the wider population. Since January 2017, he has been Pro-Warden for Research and Enterprise at Goldsmiths, University of London. He joined Goldsmiths in 2001 and from 2013 to 2016 was Head of the Department of Sociology. Jan&amp;rsquo;s professional background and experience spans HR, organisational development and corporate governance. She is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD, a qualified OD Practitioner and Executive Coach and Mediator, and a Fellow of the RSA.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Jan&amp;rsquo;s Non-Executive experience includes charity and education sectors. She is currently Vice-Chair of Council at Cardiff University and a trustee/director of CRAC (Ltd).&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Jan continues to work across the education, research and charity sectors, as a consultant, reviewer and advisor, supporting effective practice, positive culture and behaviours, organisational capability and organisational performance. In collaboration with the BPS Council and senior leadership team, Rachel is responsible for delivering the vision, mission and strategy of the Society and its subsidiary companies.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Previously, Rachel held various positions at the Royal Society of Biology, including Director of Education and Training and Director of Membership and Professional Affairs. Rachel has influenced national policy including advising the government on the 2012 National Curriculum Review and was appointed as a panel member of the Technical Level (T-Level) panel in healthcare science.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Rachel holds a bachelor&amp;rsquo;s degree in Marine Biology and Coastal Ecology, and a master&amp;rsquo;s degree in Sustainable Environmental Management from the University of Plymouth. She conducted research at the National Marine Laboratory and Plymouth Marine Laboratory in seahorse husbandry techniques and fisheries modelling.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Rachel is passionate about removing barriers to inclusion, and champions the importance of building equitable spaces for everyone to achieve their potential in the workplace and beyond. She has more than 14 years of experience working in the professional body sector and is an elected Chartered Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology (CBiol FRSB). She is a Trustee of the Royal College of Nursing Foundation, where she is currently Chair of their Grants Committee, and was Deputy-Chair of the Science Council and their Board Diversity Champion until July 2023. She has previously been a Governor of two Good Lower schools in Bedfordshire. She is mother to two young boys.&lt;/p&gt;</description><pubDate>Tue, 12 Jun 2018 15:08:30 GMT</pubDate><guid isPermaLink="true">http://www.crac.org.uk:80/team/board-of-trustees/Rachel-Lambert-Forsyth</guid></item><item><title>Professor Roger Eccleston</title><link>http://www.crac.org.uk:80/team/board-of-trustees/roger-eccleston</link><description>&lt;p&gt;Prior to joining STFC Roger was Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and Professor of Materials Physics at Sheffield Hallam University.&amp;nbsp; He had previously been Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research and Global Engagement, and Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Computing Engineering and Sciences. ​He has worked at STFC in the past as Director of Technology, and at ISIS as an Instrument Scientist, Group Leader and Division Head between 1992 and 2004.&amp;nbsp; Roger has also been Dean of the School of Science and Technology at Nottingham Trent University and Director of the Materials and Engineering Research Institute at Sheffield Hallam University. His research interests are in magnetic model systems and neutron instrumentation.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Roger completed a PhD in Physics from the University of Warwick and is a Fellow of the Institute of Physics. He is a trustee of the Careers Research Advisory Centre, a Guardian of the Sheffield Assay Office and a Freeman of the Company of Cutlers in Hallamshire.&lt;/p&gt;

Roger is the founder and Academic Director of Supercomputing Wales and has previously held the roles of Head of the School of Computer Science and Informatics (2009-2013) and Dean of Research for the College of Physical and Engineering (2012-2021). Roger&amp;rsquo;s research focuses on the intersection of human and machine intelligence, spanning disciplines including psychology, sociology and engineering. His work in this area has been sponsored via EPSRC, IBM, EC, Dstl and industry partners.
